How Does Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Work?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses injectable dermal fillers to add volume to the nose, improving its shape and appearance. These are the same fillers used to smooth wrinkles and lines on the face, add volume to the cheeks or under the eyes, or plump the lips, but in formulations that match the firmness and stability of the nose tissue being enhanced.

Dr. Yash tailors his choice of fillers to make changes based on your unique anatomy and concerns. For example, injected fillers can remove a bump on the bridge of the nose by adding volume around it, creating a straight appearance. They can lift a droopy nasal tip and even straighten the appearance of a slightly crooked nose. In some cases, artfully adding volume can even make the nose look smaller.

Dr. Yash may also include Botox injections in the procedure to help counteract small muscles that cause a drooping tip or that make your tip drop when you smile.

Why Might I Consider Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty may be an excellent option if you are dissatisfied with your nose, but are not ready to commit to the permanent changes of surgical rhinoplasty.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty can:

  • Correct a moderate hump to make your nose look straight
  • Smooth away small bumps in your nose
  • Add volume to a low nose bridge
  • Lift the tip of your nose if it is droopy
  • Make the tip of your nose more prominent
  • Straighten your nose if it is slightly crooked
  • Make your nose more symmetrical

As Dr. Yash can explain in your consultation, non-surgical rhinoplasty can only add volume. It can’t reduce the size of your nose, remove a prominent hump, or straighten your nose if it is more than slightly crooked.

Because non-surgical rhinoplasty is not a permanent solution, you’ll need to repeat the treatment when the results begin to wear off. Some people try the non-surgical approach to “try on” their new appearance before deciding to have a surgical rhinoplasty.

Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty in Dallas, TX?

You are probably a suitable rhinoplasty candidate if you:

  • are bothered by or self-conscious about the appearance of your nose
  • have an obstruction in your nose that interferes with normal breathing
  • are in good health
  • do not smoke
  • have realistic expectations for the procedure. (Rhinoplasty can improve the appearance of your nose and restore healthy breathing function. It can’t give you someone else’s nose.)

Cosmetic rhinoplasty is generally performed on adults and older teenagers, after the bone and cartilage structure of the nose has matured and stopped growing. Functional or reconstructive rhinoplasty can be conducted on younger patients to correct breathing problems or repair a significant defect.

What Can I Expect Before, During, and After My Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

Before

Your consultation with Dr. Yash is the most critical step before your non-surgical rhinoplasty. During this appointment, he will ask questions to understand what bothers you about your nose and your hopes for the procedure. He will examine your unique nasal structure—including the underlying bone, cartilage, and tissue—and consider the balance of your facial features. He will also review your medical history. A photographer will take images of your face from multiple angles, which Dr. Yash will use to help plan the details of the procedure.

Based on his observations and his understanding of your wishes, Dr. Yash will explain his recommended approach. In some cases, he may recommend a different procedure, perhaps a change to another part of your face or surgical treatment for your nose. If non-surgical rhinoplasty is the best solution for you, he will tell you what to expect from the procedure and describe the planned results.

During

Your non-surgical rhinoplasty will take place in Dr. Yash’s office. You will rest comfortably on your back with your face tilted up. Dr. Yash may apply a topical anesthetic to numb the tissue where he will make the injections. After thoroughly cleaning your skin, Dr. Yash will inject the filler—and Botox if it is part of your treatment—into your nose and the area around it. You might feel a slight pinch or a sensation of pressure as the injections go in. You’re most likely to feel injections in the tip of your nose, which is more sensitive than other parts.

The entire process usually takes between 15 and 45 minutes.

After

When Dr. Yash finishes your procedure, you’re free to go home, go back to work, or resume your normal activities. Dr. Yash will provide you with post-treatment care instructions and will be available if you have any immediate questions or issues.

You may have some swelling, redness, and discomfort at first, but this subsides quickly. Swelling and discomfort usually disappear after a day, while redness or bruising can last for a week or two. You can easily conceal any redness with makeup.

You’ll see the full results of the procedure in a week or two. Those results will last anywhere from a few months to three years, depending on your metabolism and the fillers used.
