Breast Lift in Dallas, TX with Dr. Yash

Breast lift surgery corrects sagging breasts — a common problem for women, especially after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or significant weight fluctuations. Some women have naturally drooping breasts. Others find that their breasts sag with age. By raising, reshaping, and firming the breasts, a breast lift enhances your figure and can make you look years younger.

Dr. Yash Avashia has the medical skill and expertise, and understanding of body aesthetics, to create subtly beautiful and natural-looking results. What Is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is surgery to reshape the breasts and raise their profile, moving the nipple to a higher position on the chest. It accomplishes this by removing excess skin that has stretched and sagged and tightening and reshaping the tissue inside the breasts. The procedure may include reducing the size of the areola (the circle of darker skin around the nipple), which can spread with pregnancy and breastfeeding, weight changes, or age. The procedure’s goal is to transform sagging breasts to become rounder and more uplifted.

How Might I Benefit from a Breast Lift?

You might choose to have a breast lift if you are unhappy with the shape and projection of your breasts or with the position of your nipples. A breast lift can:

  • Restore breasts to a younger-looking, uplifted shape after pregnancy and breastfeeding or weight changes
  • Create a more attractive shape in breasts that have sagged since puberty
  • Raise downward-pointing nipples or nipples that hang below the breast crease to be in a more youthful position and orientation
  • Reduce the size of over-large areolas
  • Make your breasts firmer and rounder
  • Give a rounder shape to breasts that have flattened with age
  • Correct asymmetry in the position and shape of your breasts
  • Increase your self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Help you look your best in clothing, swimwear and expand your clothing options

By itself, a breast lift does not increase the size of your breasts, although it can make them rounder and fuller. To get fuller and more uplifted breasts, you can combine a breast lift with breast augmentation.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

In your consultation with Dr. Yash, he will review your medical history, listen to your goals for the procedure, and determine if a breast lift is a good solution for you. He values transparency and will have an open discussion with you about your cosmetic treatment options.

If you’d like to correct sagging breasts and improve their shape, you may be a good candidate for a breast lift.

The best candidates for a breast lift:

  • In good general health
  • Have realistic expectations for the results of the procedure
  • Don’t smoke, or are willing to avoid tobacco and nicotine use for a period before and after surgery
  • Prepare to rest and follow all postoperative instructions during recovery

It’s best to wait until you are through childbearing before having a breast lift. Pregnancy and breastfeeding after a breast lift can undo some of the improvements made by the procedure. If you do plan to have children after your breast lift, bring that up in your consultation with Dr. Yash.

Honesty and integrity are the cornerstones of Dr. Avashia’s process. He feels strongly that he needs to educate patients on what gives them the most value, and he focuses on what should be done instead of simply what could be done. How Is a Breast Lift Performed?

Dr. Yash will choose from four basic surgical techniques for your breast lift, depending on the changes to be made, and will customize the procedure to your unique needs. The difference between the techniques is in the position of the incisions.

An incision is made in a half-circle around the top of the areola. This technique can correct downward-pointing nipples and mild breast sagging. It can also be used when a breast lift is combined with breast augmentation.

An incision is made in a circle around the nipple and areola. This technique is used to correct moderately sagging breasts — where the nipple is above the breast crease, for example. It can be used to reduce the size of the areola.

One incision is made in a circle around the nipple and areola and another in a vertical line from the bottom of the areola to the center of the crease below the breast (the inframammary fold). This technique is used to correct moderate breast sagging.

Three incisions are made: one in a circle around the nipple and areola, another in a vertical line from the bottom of the areola to the center of the crease below the breast, and a third along the curve of the crease below the breast. This technique is used to correct extensive breast sagging.

What to Expect in Your Breast Lift Consultation

In your consultation with Dr. Yash, he will measure your chest and breasts, ask questions to understand your goals for the procedure, and take a medical history. Based on your anatomy, your goals for the procedure, and any concerns you have, he will determine the safest and most effective surgical approach for your breast lift and explain it to you. He will use imaging technology to help you envision your results with different choices of implant size, shape, and profile.

What Can I Expect Before, During, and After A Breast Lift?

Before

Dr. Yash is a partner in the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute and will perform your breast lift in the Institute’s state-of-the-art surgery center. The Institute is the top facility for aesthetic surgery in Dallas and among the best in the country. You will arrive on surgery day, check-in, and meet with Dr. Yash and your anesthesia provider. You will then be carefully anesthetized with general anesthesia after being taken into the operating room.

During

Dr. Yash will perform the surgery following the approach discussed in your consultation. After making the incisions, he will remove excess skin to lift the breasts and reposition tissue inside the breasts to give them a rounder, firmer shape. If he is reducing the size of your areolas, the removed skin will include the outer portion of your areolas. When all changes have been made, he will then close the incisions. The procedure typically takes two to three hours.

After

Breast lift is performed as an outpatient procedure. Once you are alert again after your anesthesia, a friend or family member can drive you home. You can then begin the recovery phase. Dr. Yash will provide you with a full list of postoperative instructions and will be available if you have any immediate questions or issues.

What Can I Expect in Recovery?

Our team will wrap your breast in dressings and a supportive garment to promote healing and reduce swelling. You can expect some swelling and bruising in the first few days after surgery. Discomfort can be managed with pain medication. You will be advised to rest for the first week and avoid any strenuous activity, including lifting, for the first two weeks. After that, following Dr. Yash’s instructions based on your progress, you can gradually resume more activity, building up to your normal exercise and activity level by about six weeks after surgery.

Because you won’t be able to lift anything heavier than five pounds at first, you’ll need to arrange for help at home for the first week or two. That might include help cooking, shopping, taking out the trash, or taking care of young children.

Most patients can return to office-type work after about a week. If your job involves any strenuous activity, you’ll need to adjust your activities or take more time off.

Some swelling is likely to linger beyond the first week, and it can take some time for your breasts to settle into their new shape. Final results will be visible after a few weeks and will continue to improve through the months after your surgery. Scars will gradually fade until they match your skin color after about a year.
